And yet we run multi-billion dollar surpluses Y-O-Y here in Minnesota. Drives me crazy.

Joan:

As always, you are deadly accurate.

Both our governments operate extortion rackets when one really sits down and thinks about it. I was only thinking about the federal income tax, which understates the situation significantly.

Best, Earlie

And it even gets worse, when you figure out how much consumer prices are increased for taxes on the supply chain. It has to be a staggering number .... I wouldn't be surprised to find it approaching 70% overall for the average Joe. When I moved from IL back to MN the first thing that struck me was how much higher prices were for comparable goods. I believe this is a key factor in the why and how various 2nd and 3rd world countries with decent infrastructure are so darn cheap to live in.

Joan,

At least we have the Body now and some things are changing.

I filed in Wisconsin in college, so I haven't got the sales tax rebate yet, but this year I qualify (1999 rebate).

It amazes me how the liberal media tried to tear him apart with his budget proposal a few months ago. It seems to me the liberal attitude is get as much damn tax money as possible, and if it's too much, make up new programs because there's always someone/something in need.
