Hopefully the mix of AMD's world wide shipments of microprocessors is in proportion to the mix of those included in the most recent bestseller list as, if so, AMD's ASP should improve significantly with the droping off in K2 representation and the increasing presence of 1 gig plus Athys...AMD's Q1 results may surprise a lot of folks...but I wouldn't count on it being a negative surprise...A mix of 30% 1 gig and up and 70% Duron implies a healthy ASP. Even in the worst case scenario of 6 million Q1 processor shipments. With a rising ASP, Q1 revenues may well attain the level of Q4 revenues in excess of $1.1 billion...Personally I'd guess at 7 million processors which would only sweeten any positive AMD Q1 surprise!!!

AMD is in a unique position in today's marketplace where the excellent Athy architecture and its remaining headroom as well as unexplored market sectors provide "ample" opportunies for improving revenues...Higher MHz Athys with higher prices can be introduced to offset declining lowend prices as we've seen recently with the 1 gig plus Athy replacing the K6-2... Also, new products, if successfully introduced into the mobile, server and workstation sectors, where currently no meaningful AMD presence exists, will result in an additional revenues...

Judging by the continuing weakness of the Nas and the SOXX, there aren't many companies in the tech sectors that will show even revenues and/or profits...That AMD just might be a company that does, is what separates AMD from the pack...If AMD can post flat revenues and highly positive earnings in this environment, I, for one, would assume that in a favourable environment, AMD would continue to outperform the general (and for that matter, competitor's) performance resulting in outstanding revenue and profit growth...C'mon "greenman' drop those rates now, don't wait 'til March 20...Not many can continue to weather the storm as well as AMD...
