Thanks for posting the article about JDSU and NT. What a discouraging day for all of the tech stocks, and IMO for our economy in general. It sure doesn't look like we will be seeing a "soft landing". There just seems to be too much overall "damage" to turn this market around. Hopefully we will see an interest rate reduction before the next FOMC meeting, which should provide at least a temporary boost to this market.

About the only stock that I have that did well today was CHK. They posted record profits after the close today.

You point about the routine meeting is the most important part but this comment makes no sense:

John Roth, Nortel's chief executive officer, declined to comment on whether the company would reconsider terms of the deal. "That deal is finished," he said yesterday. "It's closed."

I would say John Roth commented when he stated the deal is finished.
