What is happening to the economy that has changed things so quickly?. The main external interference has come from the Fed. Circumstantial evidence suggests that Greenspan is responsible. He now thinks things are not so bad. All one has to do is watch the news to see that almost every company reporting is talking about zero growth. Just as companies were spending like crazy during the boom, they are freezing their spending based on worries about the economy. In retrospect, Greenspan's recent speech looks like selective vision. The bottom is falling out and he does not seem to be responding very aggressively.
