Nortel Networks added that Mr. Bill Hawe, chief technology officer, Nortel Networks, resigned his position on February 12, 2001. In conjunction with his resignation, Mr. Hawe exercised approximately 602,000 options at that time and sold the related shares. Nortel Networks said that it is not unusual for executives to exercise options once they choose to leave the Company.

Quote is from part of PR explaining various option moves by executives. Others are positive. This one concerns me as I debate getting back in here.

1)Date of resignation very close to the big JDSU deal may add to legal arguments

2)CTO resignation apparently not disclosed publicly for a week, even though disclosed internally.

3)Why does CTO resign and cash out right before stock crashes? One could come up with a half dozen possible answers both bullish and bearish. Right now the bearish arguments are winning.
