well, hopefully you just caught my last post to D.....

I am not selling my jdsu..not selling my sunw....In fact, there is much I would like to add to, but am not due to my own personal margin % limit I have placed....George, my experience with margin says it only works for short term swing trades or in a very bullish market. It is not meant for buying and holding in a manic depressive market such as this, as you are likely to get margin calls if you are heavy on margin. I suggest lowering your margin to a more reasonable level....after all, we pretty much can assume that as Dalin pointed out years ( dont ask me how many at this point <ggg>) from now, these quality stocks should be higher.....it would be a shame to continually be forced to sell at such low levels due to margin.....as far as what to sell, you need to look at your holdings and figure out what you feel gives you the best chance for a good rate of return and go from there. I am keeping my margin % currently below 20% and am looking to lose it all if we get some kind of pop...this will allow me to use that 205 margin to make some trades and hopefully some money and play this volatilty....

Good luck

Keith

ps....you can also look at selling some covered calls.....this wlll put instant money into your account. Depending on your margin sutuation would depend how far and what strikes you write....I only recommend this if writing will elimnate all or most of your margin..if it only takes care of a small %, and then you get a margin call while everything is covered, it would cause you to buy back the calls to sell the stock...a double whammy...so only cover if it eliminates most or all of your marging....again, good luck
