Gerry, Fun-da-Mental#1...

Thanks for your picks.... I have only been watching those trust units... although yields are high I am wary of them... does anyone know of any resources to show how they have held up historically. I know most if not all forward sell their resources to lock in prices. But how have they faired longer term... ie when oil prices weren't this high. High yield stocks are more appealing to me.

But I definitely will look into sherritt and Ivaco. I was in Noranda recently... got in when the yield was over 5%... go out before the recent run-up... I guess I missed out on that one. I kind of like holding a stock with a dividend and potential for capital appreciation. It's sort of like candy... 4 times a year they give you something to nibble on while you own a part of their company.

Check out YLD (Split Yield), as I have said I have been in it for over half a year now... according to the management company (Quadravest www.quadravest.com), a goal of the company is to return the original issue price of $15 to the holders. They also manage quite a number of other similar split yield stocks. Let me know what you think.

Wow, it looks like both you guys were hiding from this thread for over 1 and a half years.

Thanks.

Finally someone else who owns Ivaco preferred, I owned some on and off for 15 years, currently own quite a large position. Re Can O&G trusts, there is a thread in SI on Can trusts
Subject 17783
Someone posted MXT.UN there last summer and I picked up quite a bit, the thread is worth checking out, and finally a current holding of mine which pays a good dividend.
Brascan BNN.A worth a look, new president coming in (from Brookfield) and might make some good things happen,
Scott

Gerry Ivaco prefs look interesting. Do you know or can point me to somewhere that provides info on the specific series? The I series you have seems to be liquid and hasn't had a huge price band. Do you know when they mature are callable etc.

Does anyone have any source they can refer me to that would be able to give specifics about pref shares issued on Tor. Would like to see maturity call periods interest changes etc. I deal with TD greenline and they don't seem to have this info available.
