There will be a strong temptation by both companies to lower prices to spur demand. In a lot of cases this doesn't really help the bottom line, instead of selling 100 of something and making $2 each, they sell 120 of the same thing and only make $1 each. And you can lower customer expectations on what an item should cost, so when (if) a recovery comes, you can't get back to the former price level.

I hope Jerry and Craig keep their heads.
