I agree the estate and capital gains tax are two incentives to donate (don't know the %)

I remember when Ted Turner made his 1B to the united nations. Spread over 10 years and its the appreciated stock. He actually gets a current tax deduction (against the ordinary income) and doesn't realize any capital gains on the sale and to your point doens't have it in his estate @ death. Hey thats a loop hole lets close it <gg>.

Of course a good financial planner with a tax attorney can set up some trusts and insurance and he could still pass it on if he wanted to (for a good fee to the planner and insurance company and the gov't would still get its take). There are a lot of tax attorneys, financial planners and insurance companies who will be donating right now to oppose the repeal or else they lose mega fees (and this on estates only over a million now, so even raising the bar to 2m hurts the industry).

The best was Sam Walton moving the wmt stock to his siblings early on so the tax burden was minimal. The later you plan the more costly it is to avoid the tax burden and the more tax you pay.

Hi Zeev,

I bought those puts on txn early this morning, looks like your target of sub 30 is going to be a reality sooner than later...also concur with your view on AMAT, it looks like it will topple to the mid 30's shortly....
