Well what else do we want that chip to do? The dishes?

Finally global roaming with one chip for all handsets of any flavor?

Competition can't do 1XRTT, 1XEV, and only a smattering seem to be close to WCDMA handset capabilities (NEC)

They have been working on WCDMA for years and Qualcomm just recently turned its attention to it due to CDMA2000 attrition and has all the chipsets lined up. Amazing engineering prowess. Having all the patents probably helps too.
