That's not a good sign for either company. The iPAQ is marketed as an internet appliance, a sort of glorified WebTV for businesses. 866MHZ is close to the sweet spot for PIII - it may even be the sweet spot if binsplits taper off at 933.

"Appliance" PCs do not use high ASP processors, they don't even use average price processors, they use very cheap processors. Intel dumping its current sweetspot CPUs at prices that make them suitable for devices like the iPAQ isn't happy news. This is ugly news for Intel because it means most of its chips are seeing dramatic drops in their prices and it's ugly news for AMD because AMD competes in this market.
