US DVD player sales up 64.4%, in the latest week...........

Vital Statistics - 2/20/2001
According to VideoScan’s First Alert Reporting Retailers, for the week ending Feb. 11th, DVD title sales were 1,771,000, down from last week’s sales of 1,922,000, but still remaining strong. Year-to-date sales are 11,706,000!

DVD player sales also remain positive. For the week ending Feb. 9th, 2001, DVD player unit sales to dealers were 89,623, down significantly from the previous week’s sales of 242,950, however still up 64.4 percent over sales during this week in 2000. Month-to-date player sales are 272,632, up 149.8 percent over February 2000 sales, and year-to-date sales are844,663, up 76.3 percent over 2000 sales.

VCR deck sales for the week were 193,853, down (-30.5) from sales during this week in 2000. Month-to-date sales are 643,802, up 26.7 percent over February 2000 sales. Year-to-date sales are 1,404,022, down (-14.2) percent from sales in 2000.
