Champion provides Farim project progress Champion Resources Inc CHL Shares issued 30,647,940 Mar 2 close $0.25 Mon 5 Mar 2001 News Release Mr. Richard Clark reports Over the past three months, the company has been in extensive negotiations with a major phosphuric acid producer for the acquisition of Farim through a takeover of Champion. These negotiations have recently broken down over pricing and related issues. Commenting on these developments, Richard Clark, president, said: "Recent discussions for the sale of Farim clearly demonstrate and support the significant value of the project. Management efforts are ongoing to maximize this value for our shareholders." Management has just completed an in-country visit and meetings with Guinea Bissau ministers and other government officials to update them on Farim project development and on Champion's exploration work elsewhere in the country. The discussions were very favourable and the company was pleased to report to the government ministers details of the completed feasibility study and new cost-efficiencies of the project. The company continues to enjoy full, strong support from the government and has been advised that they will assist and co-operate in any way they can to help move the Farim project forward as quickly as possible. In addition, the company was pleased to receive a one-year extension of its exploration agreement with the government which grants Champion exclusive rights covering the entire country to explore for base metals, gold, industrial minerals and diamonds. Champion has deliniated a resource of 166 million tonnes grading 29.1 per cent P205 at Farim. Thirty-seven million tonnes of reserves are scheduled in the first 15 years to produce 2.0 million tonnes of concentrate per year at a grade of 33 per cent P2O5. This concentrate is a high-quality product with excellent acidulation characteristics and low quantities of deliterious elements such as cadmium.
