I've got a question for ya'll.

We've got a son who's almost 24, he still lives at home while going to school full time, working full time and is almost finished with all his necessery ratings for flying. We also have a 9 yr old son and a 7 yr old daughter living under the same roof. Here's the situation. My eldest boy has a girlfriend who has once stayed the night. We talked with our son and told him that this was totally unesceptable. Had he a place of his own, that would be his business........he doesn't and that makes it ours. I don't think the younger ones need to see this and if they loose all track of time and it gets too late for her to go home, someone needs to sleep in the spare room.

This happened again last night. She came over as we were going to bed (10:00pm). I'd made the comment that it was a little late for her to be over here and my son said that she was just stopping by on her way home from work. I should say that she lives at her parents home as well. We had gotten fog later on in the evening and you couldn't see your nose in front of your face. No one slept in the spare room. Instead of making an embarassing scene, we didn't say anything to either one of them, my husband said he would talk with our eldest later. He was going to give him a choice of living by the rules of the house or leaving.

Now, here's the question (finally!!!!)<g>

Are we being old fashioned here. Are we being unreasonable in regards to his situation. His room is like a mother-in-laws room. It's at the opposite side of the house. You have a bridge to cross over the main hall downstairs. It's sorta it's own wing so to speak with the exception of a seperate enterence/exit. We had the house built this way because we knew he would be with us for a while and needed some place off from the rest of us but still connected in a way. Also, it'll make a great getaway when he moves out.
