Do you consider your own reasoning infallible?

I cringe when people fuss about your reasoning because I think you're very logical as you roll out your thinking from your original premise. It's your original premise that's problematic. I can't disabuse you of it but, carried to its logical conclusion, it does produce a world that is less attractive than the alternative and that bothers me. A lot.

We, as a people, clearly don't have the will to provide the kind of pre-natal care that will produce healthy babies. We don't seem to have the will to turn babies into strong, well-adjusted, productive adults. Even if we did have the will, we would do great damage to our liberty in the process. And we don't have the will or the skill to correct the deficiencies in those who, as adults, threaten the rest of us.

Yet we keep producing these doomed creatures to everyone's detriment. We balk at using the leftovers from lost pregnancies to advance our health science and the longevity and quality of life for the rest of us. We look at the deterioration of society and propose carrying concealed weapons and banning song lyrics to slow down the onslaught as we continue to produce more unwanted babies.

We'd have to be totally mad to do what we're doing.

I have a favorite saying on the wall of my office: "The first requirement for getting out of a hole is to stop digging."
