Hi Doug: The persistence of higher energy costs has been a real ball-and-chain on the economy -- and the solutions are going to take a while. What a mess!! But in the mean time, AG will cut rates or face an unraveling of the economy that will be really tough to fix later -- especially if it goes global. Chambers of CISCO said this over the weekend -- not news to anybody but it matters when a public figure fires one across the bow of the Fed chief -- I think the Fed will heed the call and cut rates sharply and soon -- even more so because of the PPI and CPI which both reflect continued energy related drags on the economy. Good luck to all.

Dont worry about the LPG in CPI and PPI.

Do to the hedonistic pricing, sweaters and coats will be much more cost effective for consumers and consequently wont need to heat their homes. Repeat after me "There is no inflation, there is no inflation....."

What am I missing with this CPI number? Fuel prices have dropped around my area (including oil) since the beginning of the year. Energy prices really started rising dramatically in the middle of last year yet the CPI number in 2000 was tame. Almost appears that this CPI number is cooked.
