Toughest market I have ever seen compounded by the problem of too many people started trading online in the last 2 years and now the trend has been reversing with very negative consequences on the Naz.

PEBKAC!!

A old tech service acronym.......Problem exists between keyboard and chair. Explains some of this markets problems and extremes, IMHO.

The next time someone states that putting money into the stock market is not gambling but investing......tell him to look at his or her portfolio the last 12 months.

I'm 43 and i guess i can survive this although there are times that i am a bit overwhelmed by it all. I feel terrible for the guys who i know who are in their 60s and 70s who had their money invested in blue chip, solid companies only to see their retirement dwindle by 50%-75% in one year. these people are going to have heart-attacks and have lost a good deal of the quality of their life. and, i blame greenspan. he got too much credit and isn't getting enough blame. the last rate increase was totally stupid. then the oil price shock (an economic tax) and they do nothing. Now, once again, they sit. Wait til March. Consumer sentiment and wealth destruction is far wose than a "maybe we are on the way to a recession". the fed blew this big time and changed the face of america for the next 10-20 years.
