Suppliers are reported growing nervous about the business prospects for Amazon.com (AMZN: news, msgs) and tightening credit and payment terms for the company. The Washington Post said publishers, manufacturers and distributors are no longer confident about assurances from Amazon.com chairman Jeff Bezos that "The company has never been in better shape." Insurance companies are also cutting back or becoming unwilling to write policies covering goods delivered to dot-coms, including Amazon, the Post reported. An executive at an electronics distributor was quoted saying, "We've got the rope very tight on Amazon and all the other e-commerce accounts. We've no idea who's going to stay in business and who isn't."
