I have not been a Cisco bull in the past because I thought the valuation was too high but I agree with this article

I would think that Nortel's stumble might make it easier for Cisco to make inroads into optical. Stock market perceptions may translate into business. Just look at the negativity surrounding lucent last year and which no doubt had a big impact on its sales as a consequence...making it a vicious cycle.

Now I would think some big caps like MSFT, INTC, CSCO have a chance to make market share gains. For example, Microsoft with the demise of the Linux stocks and consequently we will see a reluctance to deploy Linux operating systems...why would one select if it is unknown the companies supporting it are going to be around a year from now.
My feeling is that Microsoft will be the big winner from the dot.com blowup as well as the Linux companies.
Cisco may benefit in their industry in a similiar way, if they make their moves carefully.
