For all the talk about truth, the "rule of law," character, propriety, morality, there's an astounding amount of hypocrisy here. Sure, I suppose suspicion about whether Hillary knew of her brother's payments beforehand is to be expected, but the way you all regard it as certainty is a joke. She would have to know that it would have reflected very poorly on her if she had known about the payments beforehand and not done something about it. But rational thinking here is scarce. A defense of the truth and what you call "support" of Clinton are two very different things. Personally I find his morality and political judgement repugnant and he disappointed me for 8 years, but the silliness here is laughable. If there was any true concern about law or propriety here, you might be looking at a few other things as well: The brutality of Tommy Thonmpson's welfare reform policies in Wisconsin The dream world of Gail Norton's utter failure to enforce EPA laws as attorney general of Colorado Colin Powell's role in the My Lai coverup Tom DeLay's racketeering methods of fund raising for the RNC. William Renquist's lies about his personal views to the Senate Judiciary committee during his Chief Justice confirmation hearings John Ashcroft's fawning support of a conservative organization that produces tee-shirts that say "John Wilkes Booth was Right,"-one of which Tim McVeigh was wearing when he was arrested. Bush's duplicity in South Carolina during the campaign The smear campaign against McCain conducted by Bush's manager in New Hampshire. The "feeding at the public trough" by defense contractors that's about to happen from South Carolina through the Sun Belt all the way up to the Lawrence Livermore Lab. Cheney's "feeding at the public trough" as CEO of Halliburton Of course I understand that none of these things matter to you. I only mention them so that you remember that finding someone in politics who is pristine is a fool's dream.
