No, a trader in trading adds very little if anything to the society

Hmmmmmmm.........take away all the speculators in the all the markets and then explain to your grand mother why the slippage is so bad every time she tries to sell some of the stock she needs to live on.

Try to explain to the family why you can only buy meat to eat some of the time because the price at the market fluctuates like crazy.

Try to run a farm and explain to the kids why you just went broke selling the harvest for next to nothing when just 2 weeks ago the price was sky high.

Try to lock in a mortgage on that house you want to buy without the stabilizing effect of averaging the desires of millions of speculators in the interest rate markets.

I could go on.........you would be surprised what us "Traders" do for the society.

I don't agree. The liquidity the traders provide is vital.
