To calculate the starting point, I took the amount of money in each component of the portfolio, as published for 9/30/00, and adjusted it according to the average closing price for the week of October 16th. I took the cash and added the amount of interest that would have been earned to the middle of that week (October 18th). For the current value, I adjusted the figures for 1/31/01 according to yesterday's closing prices.

For QQQ, I calculated the average closing price for the week of October 16th as the starting point.

That was how I calculated the results for the most aggressive scenario. For the most conservative investor, I simplified the process as described in my earlier post.
