To clarify what I think is likely to happen to
emerging carrier networks and telecom/networking
equipt companies, I think a possible scenario is
what happened to biotech after the boom-bust cycle
of 90-92. Six apparently lean years during 92-98,
but where behind this subdued period several very strong
companies (AMGN, BGEN, Immunex, MEDI, GENZ ...)
emerged-- investors who stuck around to invest in
the winners did incredibly well. I am sure Cramer
was not around, since bottom up investing is not
his style. So, I am not expecting a quick rebound,
but the telecom shakeout is likely to provide great
opportunities for the patient investor.
