Sun Micro Exec Dismisses Merrill
Report

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - An Asian executive of Sun
Microsystems (NasdaqNM:SUNW - news) dismissed on
Thursday a Merrill Lynch report that helped pummel its
stock to a 52-week low, saying the firm was just taking a
breather after 12-18 months of rapid growth.

``First of all, it's not a reality. It's a perception,'' Lionel
Lim, vice-president and managing director for Sun in
South Asia, said of the Merrill report.

``I don't know how they get their numbers and where they
get their numbers from.''

Sun shares fell $2-5/8, or almost 12 percent, to close at $19-5/8 on Nasdaq on
Wednesday, after talk of a possible earnings revision and a Merrill report that
downgraded the stock to ``neutral'' from ``accumulate.''

Lim, however, could not guarantee there would be no bad news for investors when
the company holds a conference call with analysts at the close of the U.S. market on
Thursday.

The teleconference is to be hosted by chief executive and chairman Scott McNealy
and will coincide with the firm's fiscal third-quarter update

But don't expect to find there the information I gave -- it's a paid service to which I subscribe.
