I don't think this qualifies as a proprietary investment question but it probably does qualify as a TA question, which may be even less acceptable.

For most of today all three major averages--S&P, DOW, NAZ-- have tracked with extreme similarity--mostly on the downside but very much up and down. I wonder if this means that stocks are being sold across the board, which would cause such patterns, rather than being shifted between sectors, or market-risk areas. If so, I wonder if that might not tend to signal the start of the big general washout that really has never yet occurred, despite the catastrophes in individual stocks and especially tech and dot.com stocks.

MB:

Good luck in your new endeavor. Will miss the stock tips - but most of all your "stock humor" (the funny analyst names in particular).

JSD.

Hi MB,

As one who posts infrequently but who nevertheless has been lurking around this thread for quite a while I must thank you for all your comments and advise. I am still trying to understand how to implement your advise on options that you gave me months ago <G>.

Thanks a lot and good luck with your new job.

I just started participating in the thread and unfortunately you went and got a real job and the thread is to put it mildly not what it used to be. this, further buttresses my position as a contrary indicator.this is what happens to me with everything to do with the stock market
