OT, a little bit of history There are four former Soviet Republics in Western Asia. Kazakstan, Turkistan, Kyrgistan and Tadjikstan, these are now indipendent countries. The use of German comes from the Volga-Germans whom originally were given land in Europian Russia by Elizabeth the Great. When Stalin got into war with Hitler, he shipped all the Volga-Germans as far as he could. Some have been repatriated to Germany, but after 300 or so years, many are more native to Russia than Germany. Alex
