We may be smarter about our politicians, but I doubt we will have smarter politicians. A few of them may get voted out (San Diego, are you listening?), but I doubt they will be replaced by people with IQ's seriously challenging triple digits. The golden years of California (when the freeways were first build, the UC and State College system was established, the big water projects were put in place) was during the period right after WWII up until the mid-60's, and during those years the legislature was part-time-they met in Sacremento for a few months each year to pass essential legislation and then went home to their real non-government jobs. Ahh, the good old days!
