Most of my exposure to Rap has been via subwoofers masquerading as pickup trucks. I think the Army uses these as weaponry.

I got it- I think- you mean that Mozart's music was often overshadowed by lesser talents- like Salieri. And so Lauridsen has to compete with lesser talents of today.

People today have much less sophisticated ears in some ways, I think. Which is interesting because when you go back back back- music started so simply- rhythm, a simple melodic line, harmony was a long time coming. Then we hit the 20th century with a lot of really weird stuff- 12 tones, and atonal, and mixed rhythms. ANd I don;t think the ordinary man's ear has kept up to the point of Liking it.

I could be wrong- and am writing this on the fly- as it just occured to me and I don;t have time to think about it because we are on our way to Austin for the State meet!!! I've been running all day.

I hate leaving with all these great conversations going on and apologize to all-- had a party and left. How rude of me.

But please have fun, feed the bete noir, and keep the light on for me.
Hey- maybe Dan will have his laptop and I can get on tonight-.....
