...absolutely hilarious cartoon in this week's New Yorker magazine making the rounds here in NoCal... you remember Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath and the classic American film, young Henry Fonda as 'Tom Joad' ~ and especially that image ~ you know, of the Oklahoma prairie folks ~ piling their belongings / strapping their stuff on an old Ford and headin' West to California, right ?

weellll, in this New Yorker cartoon, you got all these PC's and network hubs and handi-phones and palms and stuff, crammed into a pickup truck; modern-looking American family in there, talking to young dot.com-type with goatee and little squinty glasses, standing on the sidewalk:

"Get in, Tom - we're goin' to Oklahoma. Hear tell they got 'lectricity."
