Any thoughts on the weakness in the RUT and TRAN? Sure doesn't look like the selling is done there.

if someone really manufactures rallies, it seems to me they can't do it alone -- have to lather up retail investors ...

first rate cut did that OK -- 2nd one didn't -- what are they going to use? Another rate 'surprise' rate cut?

Everybody talks about cash on the sidelines -- but I think some has come out that isn't coming back in and some is just plain 'gone'

seems to me they need some real piece of macro type news which they aren't going to get ...

wow...what a thought.

A concerted massive sale of puts to mislead the buyers completely before an unanticipated change in material events.

Like you say, after a set time frame in the market happens...(or life in general for that matter), it's good to just lay back and let all those previous events wash over your mind unprejudiced.

This can be such a particularly good way to view a course of events when trying to determine future actions.

Of course past performance is no guarantee of future results...or so they say<g>

Have a great weekend, thanks for the thoughts, and put me on the mailing list when the band gets it together.

JM

Heinz:

Right on the money Heinz, and I agree that it will be an excellent marker to keep on the screen. I would bet my house against a bag of donuts that certain banks , deep in the doo-doo with respect to LTCM, somehow managed to be the big buyers of those contracts just before Greenspan unloaded on the market.

Best, Earlie
