Siemens was down 1.4 per cent as the market gave the thumbs down to its planned acquisition of Efficient Networks of the US for $1.5bn in cash. SAP, Europe's biggest business software group, lost 4 per cent while chipmaker Infineon was 1.7 per cent lower.
