Zeev: Sure AMAT is the leader ; always has been thru 2 other down turns. Unfortunately though AMAT is the leader there are a number of other requirements need especially as testing and tuning of a Fab plant is a very costly process.

If AMAT is on a roll, the vapour Gas suppliers, the photo mask suppliers, the Bonders, the Etch Chemicals , the Air Purifiers would also be on a roll. They are not. Infact the large Fab plants in the East in Taiwan, Singapore , China and Japan are all down reporting slower sales. Further there is an Inventory problem at home and cash flow is tight. Under such circumsatnces , it is logical to delay new plants and slow down others in the process of retooling. Unless the rest of the suppliers have some +ve news, I cannot expect AMAT to take off on its own
