Basic fact is they get less for gas up north than most US markets. That may change with the recent declines in production in the US. It will continue to be true that it costs more to get the gas to the US market for the Canadian producer than the producers in the US.

Some Canadian producers are improving in the market.
Notice the recent respect for AOG and CP by the market?
All this JMHO.
