Ali, I think John was suggesting microprocessor GM% is calculated by using revenue figures from IAG, not "other" (non-processor) revenues. That's how his post read to me.

re: Low Cost Producer

Traditionally when you talk about "low cost producer" you limit the discussion to the products that are competitive between the companies manufacturing those products, in this case microprocessors. Intel is the low cost producer of microprocessors, and that gives leverage in that category.

If you want to change the discussion to company wide net margins, with all fixed and variable costs included, AMD may have an advantage, I don't know because I haven't looked.

BTW, some have indicated that the large size of the P4 is a fixed cost, it isn't. It's a variable cost based on the number of P4's manufactured. And Intel has indicated it's cutting it's fixed costs.
