Al,yes you are correct Calimetries brough some patents from Polaroid ( maybe licensed them) they are using multilevel technology combine with near term technology. (maybe thats what Calimetries got from Polaroid.(I not even sure if I got the name of technology right meaning (near term)( near sight). I think it was talk about years ago on SI.

Al, I got some stats for you from Terance our tour guide at ECD. Terance has been with ECD for about two years. Terance has had a lot of experience in the solar field having worked for other solar cell company(ies?.) They are going to put more resources in marking department Bekaert insistence. Crystalline solar cells have a hard time holding up in humid weather and also he had a lot of experience of being damaged in shipping. I enjoyed his tour of the 5 meg watt plant.

In the total cost of a solar system 45% solar shingles ,35% converters DC to AC (effective of low cost effective converters have been around just the last couple of years according to Terance. The last 15% wire cable ,supports ,misc. When your done with that cost calculation. The batteries will add 22% to the over all cost.

The feedback of solar power to the power companies varies across the US some companies are very helpful. The Detroit Edision co in my area of Michigan is very helpful. Some areas the Power companies are not. Over all saving in Michigan and Federal Tax breaks can be 40% saving in over all costs. ( don't have the breakdown of taxes.)This includes some new Michigan Sate tax laws have just been passed.

June 2002 the new 25 megwatt plant should be up and running. The amount of cost coming down I got so many confused I not going to give a number. This is only speculation. Its now stated at 25 cents a kilowatt.
