You might try Tracy Arm, out of Juneau too. It's not a national park, so there's not quite as much traffic as Glacier Bay and it's really spectacular. Cheaper, too.

I really like the Maritime Maid. We had a lab underneath the helicopter deck for measuring growth of trees we sampled and keying out difficult plant specimens.

It slept 12 of us, plus the crew. Sometimes men and women had to share a stateroom because there was only so many bunks. It was helpful if they had a relationship, but everybody got along extremely well as far as I could tell. There wasn't a whole lot of choice, so everybody made an effort.

Those staterooms were something. A big guy like me had to get out to turn over. Three people in a room the size of a closet. But the food was great and it sure as heck beat camping out on muskeg in the rainforest. You could kayak or fish on your off hours.

With the helicopter, we had everybody on the ground working by 8 am. The alternative would have taken a two-three day trek through very difficult going to get to the sample plots. We had .375 H&H magnums as defense against bears, but were able to keep confrontations to a minimum by postponing work if we saw a bear from the helicopter.
