Windsurfing sails are ALSO made in Asia (over the river from Hong Kong I am told) but the majority of the profits go the the stores holding the inventory as they ALREADY paid for them and buying is pure cash to them.

Now I can send anyone who questions the purchase to you. :)

I take it "she" is the one that has to approve of all "non investment" expenses! ;)

What better investment than jump starting the economy? Consumer sentiment is so important. I know I have not felt like spending much since the market started lower BUT one of the reasons I took profits going up was so I would have money to spend... NOW seems like a good time to spend some.

BTW, I have foreign funds for diversification and all they seem to do is "di-worse-ification" as they tank even more than my US funds since they sell goods to the US.

Kirk

PS I hear it will be a windy Spring as the storms and clearing winds are already lining up properly.

Anyone having problem editing portfolios in Yahoo finance? I haven't been able to do so since yesterday morning. E-mailed Yahoo help yesterday with no response. Suspect they are having problems of their own. Does anyone have a good substitute for Yahoo Finance portfolios?

OT- Sailing

Self-furling Jib - good thought. I was caught on a friend's boat when a squall hit us. 10-kt winds jumped to a steady 25-kt, gusting to 35 or more. I think we were under a microburst. (Mobile Bay - shallow and wide, similar to lower SF Bay, but lots of surprise convection thunderstorms.)

I recall hanging over the bow, pulling down the jib while others reefed the main. The boat was doing at least 20 knots over swells - it was like riding a bungee cord while trying to control a loose pile of wind-blown dacron. I locked my legs in the rail so I could use both hands.

That was just a *little* exhilarating for this Sunfish sailor. <g>

Is it OK if the sail is made in Asia?

Which model did you want?

1) The ones made by prison labor

2) The ones made by underage children that should be in school

3) The ones made by pregnant women working 16 hour days.

Check with your local Nike representatives for some insights.

Oh well what else is there to debate on another dismal Friday.

Jerome :-)
