11:01 ET Hedge Fund Rumors : Rumors are circulating that a Bermuda-based hedge fund is in trouble due to massive equity losses; the rumors are being credited with producing solid bond market gains today. Along with the recent developments in Turkey (see Briefing.com's Stock Brief for more), these hedge fund rumors are exacerbating a trend toward risk aversion. This is not on the scale of the 1998 Russia/LTCM scare, but the results are similar: falling equities, rallying bonds, and -- most likely -- an increasingly concerned Fed.

I would say 65% chance we end lower too. Btn now and 3:00, we call the doldrums. Mkts tend to sit in a steady directionless pattern until the "reversal period". I tend to use hard stops here until I see a resumption or turn in the days pattern. NTIQ MANU NUAN, may have some rebound life to them, but again, waiting...
