they didn't tell you whether it's mean or median, or whether it's harmonic, geometric, arithmetic, or hedonic. if you have a lot of semiconductor stocks, that can skew the median much lower than the mean.

that's complete BS. forget it. they don't count the loss makers, and they count only 'pro forma' earnings, excluding all write offs. the p/e is now slightly below 800 in reality.
