Intel offers a 1.5 GHz Pentium 4 - and P4 system prices are the same as the 1.2 GigaHumper systems - maybe cheaper if they (GigaHumpers) use PC2100 DDR.

I agree that it would put AMD in a tough spot.

I don't know about P4 getting cheaper, since 1.5 GHz P4 is $300 to $400 more than 1.2 GHz Athlon, and RDRAM is more expensive than either SDR or DDR SDRAM.

Ergo - many customers will see Intel's Pentium 4 as the right choice - as current sales trends support.

People buying P4 over Athlon are morons, but it is just a reality AMD will have to deal with. MHz sells (TM McMannis).
