Fed adds $2.111 bln in reserves by buying T-bills

NEW YORK, Feb 23 (Reuters) - The Federal Reserve said on Friday it bought $2.111 billion of U.S. Treasury bills dated Mar. 29, 2001 through Aug. 30, 2001, adding permanent reserves to the banking system.

Delivery was set for Monday, Feb. 26.

There were five exclusions from the maturity range:

-- April 5, 2001

-- May 3, 2001

-- June 7, 2001

-- July 5, 2001

-- Aug. 2, 2001

Federal funds were trading at 5-7/16 percent, below the Fed's 5-1/2 percent target for the rate.
