Gent does not have to learn about CDMA from VZ. Remember the Newbury overlay trials by VOD and QCOM in 1998? Based on those successful results, VOD has been able to plot its strategy in full knowledge of an end game scenario. Maybe that's why they chose to drive up the auction prices, weakening their competitors who have far lesser credit endurance. If so, the cows are already headed home, as the bankers are forced by their regulators and shareholders to crunch the weak borrowers. Consolidation is then achieved by the strong at bargain prices.
