In-coming flash...........

Rising energy prices deflationary...........

So should we be worrying about stagflation?

"Ridiculous!" barks Lawrence Chimerine, President of Radnor Consultants.

If anything, he says the rise in energy prices is deflationary, sucking purchasing power out of the economy, slowing growth. In his recent testimony, Fed Chairman Greenspan said he did not see broad inflationary effects from rising energy costs. As for the one-month blip in inflation, Chimerine declares, "the Fed will ignore it."

Damn. Just when I thought I had it figured out. I guess this same law could be applied across the board - which means that stagflation will never return again. Or is it that it never existed to start with? Quick Batman, to the Batmobile. VBG
