Richard, Rambus owns some IP. It is not likely that all of their claims will be accepted by the courts, and the valuation of the ones that are is in question. Rambus has publicly asked for royalties which the industry considers way out of line. The earnings statements seem to indicate that the agreements signed so far have royalties well below those of the high-profile numbers reported in the press. After all, 43% of the industry is signed up, and Rambus is not making much money (and they said the next reporting quarter will not be any better.) Scumbria
