To me, being invested means being the (part) owner of a company. I think buying QQQ specifically for a 2-4 month gain of 20% is a speculation by definition.

I agree, in fact in retrospect it was pure speculation aka gambling. When gambling, you get what you opted for which is evidenced by what has happened: a 4 month drop of 40%.

Live and learn and hopefully save enough to invest profitably the next time around.
