Sheesh Frank,

Ya ask a guy a simple question and he writes a Ph.D. dissertation in reply. So, that one got bookmarked and saved for posterity. It's simply amazing what I didn't know about T-1s. I'm very appreciative you took the time to lay out all the possible scenarios in the CO. I had no idea. I figured they just landed the wires on a 5ESS or whatever they had lying around in the back. Guess there's slightly more to it, eh?

I am now thoroughly convinced that my cable modem is just swell. Compared to the rigamarole you suggest I'd likely get into with T-1, I think I have absolutely no interest in pursuing this further as a practical solution. However, the Qwest rep I talked to seemed eager to work on the issues, though he was merely an intermediary and didn't have many answers to share. I need to get to talk to a datacom guy, as they call 'em, and see if I can answer your question about what flavor of Internet connectivity one large** buys me.

TTBOMK, the DLC in my neighborhood is of the older variety and I'm not able to get xDSL due to distance constraints. So, thank gawd for the cableco. <g>

I await your commentary on fuel cells with bated breath... :)

Ray
