My wife's IRA has a pretty big position in BEARX, as does mine. They keep about 70% of their portfolio in shorts (balanced by T-bills held against the short sales). In my cash account I have a large short position against SPY, after having held the tech index fund short (XLK) for much of last year. BEARX is certainly one of the best downside bets.
