Utilities with pricing power?

biz.yahoo.com

Hmmmmm. I guess they could all just raise prices. But unfortunately there is not sufficient demand for their currently overpriced capacity. But there is always the tooth fairy and AG. :o{

California utility consumers have not yet felt the full brunt of this past winters NG spike.

Wrong. It's up about 3x on the bills. No adjustments, no fiddling around, no mystical additions and subtractions like on the electrical portion of the bill. Here's how many therms you used, here's the cost per therm, here's the gas part of your bill.

And food is indeed rising sharply, and not just because it's winter. Safeway and Raley's markets are making a big deal about how 2-liter bottles of soda are now "on sale" at $1.19 and $1.49, for example.
