This is part of the problems with today's liberals. They write that gas should be 4$ a gallon. They want to prevent development of energy because it pollutes. However when energy prices rise they freak out and immediately want to protect the poor from harm. I really resent subsidies to the poor in California for energy. The poor should do without. That is pristine. Go to Hearst Castle and there were no air conditioners for the wealthiest man in the world. If energy is to be costly than the poor should reduce their use of it. Also the poor mostly always vote for the Democrats and they should realize that there are consequences to voting for them.
The liberals have to make up their minds what they want they can't have it both ways. If they want to protect the environment than they have to accept that the poor in this country should live like the rest of the world. That is the poor may have to do without the luxuries of air conditioning and actually do without this artificially created necessity
