$10-$11 ClownBux/sh sounds about right for AMAT. This chart amply demonstrates the cyclicallity of semi equipment manufacturers:

A real simpletonian analysis would suggest that AMAT will descend to the peak of the last cycle (about $27/sh). However, since the last cycle was prolonged due to Fed machinations in '98 and '00, I'd figure on a lot lower, and the price/book metric sounds pretty reasonable. In any event at $48/sh, it remains a screaming short....

Julius:

Both AMAT and NVLS are "core" at this end. I carried them over the weekend, along with a bit of JNPR that I grabbed just before the close (after a remarkable vertical ascent during the last hour). The semi equipment makers are a delightful gift from the funds to deserving and patient bears. (g)

Your eventual target is similar to mine.

Best, Earlie
